Course Overview

In this 5-day practical workshop, participants will learn how to set up a data warehouse solution with Microsoft SQL Server 2022 components.

After an architectural overview and modeling approaches of a data warehouse system, you will design a data model, develop load paths with the ETL tool Integration Services and model a multidimensional cube with the Analysis Services. Finally, you will get to know Reporting Services and Power Bi as visualization tools.

At the end of the course you will have independently developed the prototype of a data warehouse system.

The target group are developers and architects who are planning to set up a data warehouse system.

You will gain an overview of the layers of a DWH system and finally learn how the various components interact.

Basic knowledge in the following areas is desirable:

  • Parameterization and configuration of Integration Services packages
  • Deployment and operation of integration services
Implementation of a quality assurance layer
  • Introduction of Data Quality Services
  • Implementation of customized quality assurance with integration services
Creating DataMarts with Microsoft Analysis Services (Multidimensional and Tabular)
  • Creating cubes
  • Deployment von Cubes

Overview of reporting tools
  • Introduction to Power BI and Paginated Reports (SSRS)
